Fact Finder Report on BTF Negotiations

Updated: Feb 3, 2023

January 27, 2023

  • The fact finders report and recommendations includes 21% in salary increases over three years in addition to an 8% signing bonus. This would make the Buffalo contract amongst the most competitive in the region, especially when you consider our total compensation package that includes valuable health insurance for active and retired teachers.

  • 14% of the aforementioned increases and the 8% bonus would take effect in the next four months if the contract were ratified today. Every day that goes by means thousands of dollars are being denied to our valued teachers.

  • The impartial fact finder was selected by the public employee relations board (PERB). Either party could have objected. Neither did. It was a fair process where both parties had a fair opportunity to present evidence. The fact finder rendered a fair and impartial decision based on that evidence.

  • The fact finder also addressed two components regarding the selection of the most qualified athletic coach and regarding three tiered bell schedule to address the bus driver shortage crisis.

  • Step 2 Salary Comparison: ....in the first year alone Buffalo teachers' step 2 salary would be increased from $39,531 to $42,693 for those holding a BA, and from $44,859 to $48,447 for those holding an MA.
